Banagher Bold Ale Washed is a handcrafted Irish farmhouse cheese produced by Dart Mountain Cheese in the Sperrin Mountains of Co. Derry. Made from pasteurised cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet, this distinctive ale-washed cheese is matured for a minimum of three months to develop its rich flavour and characteristic orange rind.

Named after the nearby Banagher reservoir, the cheese is regularly washed with locally brewed craft beer during maturation. This traditional process enhances the flavour, encourages the development of its distinctive rind and adds depth to its mellow, full-bodied character. Beneath the rind lies a smooth, creamy paste with rich buttery notes, subtle nuttiness and a gentle malty sweetness from the ale wash.

Produced by the family-run Dart Mountain Cheese dairy, Banagher Bold is a versatile cheese that works beautifully on cheeseboards, burgers, toasted sandwiches and fondue. Rich, mellow and packed with flavour, it is a superb example of innovative Irish farmhouse cheesemaking.
